September 24, 2010

Well so much for summer it is now fall and what a wonderful time of year. Biggest problem with fall and spring are the allergy's that come with them. The past little while some awesome things have happened such as grand kid #9 came and she is healthy as can be. Scott and Kayce are proud parents. We poured the patio and now are enjoying it. We had a Brickey family get together and used the patio. We had a great turn out.
We had a get together with the Walkers on Labor day, then September 17-19 we went out to Walkers cabin, repaired the deck did some fishing cleaned up around the cabin. Had a wonderful time and decided we need to use the cabin area more. Fishing was awesome even the grand kids caught fish.

June 2010

Well it has been a while since I last posted but life is busy. Work has been good. A family reunion, Scout camp, Fathers day, Yard work and being with the grand kids. The grand kids are all really growing up faster than I could imagine. Jack is now 2 months old and growing like a weed.
All the others are doing great. Scott got a new job and is really enjoying it. Ryan now has a job and the Curley's are happy about that. They now can plan more for the future. I just got back from summer camp, we went to Thunderidge and had a awesome time. It sure was a beautiful camp. All the scouts came back with 3-6 merit badges and wonderful memories.

We have made some new decissions about the yard and have slowly been working to get them done we hope to have some of them done before fall. Our garden is doing well and we have already ate some out of it.

April 17, 2010

Well here it is the middle of April and now the news. Nicole and Ben had their baby on April 14. He is a keeper but of course I am going to say that because he is my grandson. He came about 4:30pm weighing 6lbs 15oz, and 19inches long.

Delivered by c-section. Mom and son are doing well. Ben is so pleased he is going to be a great dad. I was able to go and see him that night before I left for Washington state to do some work for Wendy's. Desiree just had a birthday and turned the big 10. She is sure growing up fast. Stevie will be turning 8 on Sunday. He will be baptized on May 1. It sure is awesome to see the family grow. I never thought I would be a grandpa let alone 8 times now. Am I really getting that old? I don"t usually feel old but some days my body just screams at me for some of the things I do. But I find living life to its fullest is on way of staying young. Look at how gray my beard looks in the pictures, now you can tell I must be getting old or just getting gray!! I still love to be outside and any free time I have had lately is used trying to get the yard ready for summer. Some changes will be taking place slowly. I hope to get it cleaned up this year. My dad is doing well and just the other day I went over and tilled up his gardens. I love being able to do things for him.

As you can see we have now gotten the vinyl fence done and have been working on the wood fence. Janet and I also redid some things in the front yard but I haven't taken pictures yet. The city turned on our grey water for the sprinklers so that is good. Now Janet needs to figure out how and what she wants to plant in the garden. Sometimes I wonder why do we have such a big yard but we really do love it. I got all the trees pruned so we are mostly ready for spring-summer. Kade is moving out. He is going to go live at Nicole and Ben's. He feels it will give us more room. He and Janet went to California to visit his mission and they had a great time. Janet loved the time spent with him. She knows how well he did on the mission as people spoke real highly of him. He was a good missionary. Some of the people told him he needs to bring me out so they can meet me. I hope I can work things out and be able to make the trip with him some day. For those of you who have never been to Washington let me tell you over here in the Seattle area it is awesome. Lots of trees and green everywhere. A little humid for us desert dwellers but I could learn to love it here. The other draw back is it is to far from the rest of the family. I do love to be close to family.I have a hard time when I here of family's that get separated because they have to go away for work because there is none around the hometown area.

March 13, 2010

Well here it is March 13 and now to do a new post and catch up on what has been happening. I was unable to attend the camp out at the end of February as we had a job at work that needed to be done so we worked late on Friday then worked almost all day on Saturday. We had to get it done as we left the following Monday to go work in
Price at the Wendy's. The end of February is also Saedy's birthday so we had a party on Sunday. The trip to Price was good but quite busy. We have to work the night shift as we remove the existing cook grills and install new ones. It takes two nights to get it all done if we do not encounter problems. The first night was great as everything went well. The second night was pretty good until we went to start up the equipment then we found problems with some electrical outlets fixed them. Then when we went to start up the refrigerator system we had parts that were bad from the factory. We had to call down to Utah county to get the parts. We were able to find the parts and had Kincade make a quick run to Price and bring us the parts. Success was our the parts took care of the problems. We then got showered up and drove home. Three days of work on about 8 hours of sleep so when we got home it was some sleepy men. Most of us waited until 10pm to go to bed so we all slept like logs. Up and back to regular work on Thursday.

I have had two uncles die in the last month. Jack Wilkinson and Donald Brickey. That only leaves two in that age group left Don's wife Joyce and my Dad. Kind of sad when you think about it. My age group is getting close to the latter years in our lives. As we think about it we can get a little depressed but if we keep our thoughts young and thank our Father in Heaven for what we have and keep a positive out look we can keep ourselves happy with life. This month is Chastina and Steve's 11th anniversary. It doesn't seem like they have been married that long. It is also Steve's birthday---Happy birthday STEVE. It is just wonderful that we are all healthily
Scott and Kayce let us know that we will be grandparents for the 9th time come August. Congratulations to them. Nicole and Ben are excited to welcome peanut to their lives in about 1 month we are all excited to meet the little guy. They have picked the name of Benjamin Jack for him.

This next week end the scouts are going camping out to the desert. We are doing a night time bike ride and star watching on Friday then on Saturday we will have a orienteering course and then we are planning on watching the Utah Rocket club launch some awesome rockets.

Febuary 14, 2010

Well here we are in the middle of Febuary and it is just flying by. Lets see what has been happening! So far no campouts this month but one coming up on Febuary 26-27.We are going to go ice fishing up at scolfield resovoir. We are planning on staying over night as usual,we were planning on sleeping on the ice but as we have a couple of people that are wary of the ice we will sleep in the parking lot. Last night I did a hunter safety course. I had 10 students. It is always good to help people understand gun safety and also to teach proper hunting editic and to help them understand true sportsmanship. A few had a little strugle with the shooting but we had plenty of time to work with them so they could pass the whole program. I had students from 9 years old to aroung 45. It is so fun to see how excited some of them get. When they pass the class it is pretty cool to see thier reactions. Even the girls get pretty excited.

Work has been pretty good we have had enough to keep us all going so no lay offs for us. I am greatful to have a job. I have been trying to get some things done in the yard so when the weather breaks I will be not to far behind in getting things done. We are thinking about increasing our patio area but we will see if it works out. I sure wish that the fence to the north would get finished. I am tired of other dogs using our yard as thier bathroom. It is enough to clean up after just ours when we let them out. Nicole and Ben are getting excited for the next two months to pass so we can all get to know Jack. I am so glad to be in good health so I can enjoy my grandkids. Jack will make #8. 4 girls and 4 boys.

Janet is doing fine and as today is valentines day I just want to let everyone know I am a lucky man to be married to her. I do love her with all my heart even though I know that I am not the best at showing her my love. I do love all my childern and thier spouses. I am lucky to have the family I have and want them all to know I love them. I also love and respect all my friends and extended family. Have a great day and happy Valentines day to all.

January 29, 2010

Well here it is the end of January all ready. Where did the first month of 2010 go?? It has been real fun this month as the first Saturday we went and helped Scott and Kayce move to a new place. They are doing well and enjoying work and school as much as anyone can. The next three Saturdays were taken as scout camp outs. The 8-9 I went with the deacons from the ward up AF canyon where we had to come home before noon. What a waste of time as they only got to camp. The next weekend 15-16 I took the priests up Fairview canyon to a biathlon. This was a awesome camp we got home about 4:30pm. The boys and leaders had a great time. Then last weekend 22-23 went with the Presbyterian scouts back up AF canyon what a wonderful weekend lots of new snow and lots of snow games. We got back at about 5pm. Winter camps are some of my favorites.

This month we also had some birthdays. Bonnie [grandma] Sorensen, Mckay, Makenna and my Dad. Happy birthday to them all. We love them. We are all healthy and doing well. God bless us all through this next month.

January 21, 2010

Well this month has been good as I have been on two camp outs and #3 this weekend. No I don't like camping----I love it. The first camp was with the ward deacons which was good but I just don't understand why they had to be back before noon. The next camp was with the venture group from the ward. We went up Fairview canyon to a biathlon it was awesome we stayed then got back at about 4pm. Now that is more like the camping I like to do. Tomorrow the camp is with Troop/Crew 1098 we are going up AF canyon and we are planning on staying until about 3pm. We almost always stay most of the day when we go camping. I have a hard time when boys get advancements and only camp overnight and are home by noon. How do they pass anything off????? We need more members in Troop/Crew 1098 so if you know anyone wanting a great outdoor experience let them contact me.
We evn had boys sleep in these snow caves. Everyone stayed dry and had a great time. Just love being in the mountians.
